The company has developed an extensive portfolio of valuable proprietary traits applicable in a wide range of field crops, horticultural crops and ornamental plants. CropDesign's agronomic traits are based on transgenes consisting of a carefully selected gene, usually of plant origin, under control of a particular constitutive or tissue-specific promoter.
These traits are available for licensing for use in most plant species. An exception is made for some crops (corn and rice in particular) that CropDesign considers of strategic value for its own product development activities, in which case CropDesign will seek to set up a strategic co-development partnership rather than pursuing a licensing deal.
