CropDesign offers access to its Protein Production technology platform for the production of foreign proteins in rice seeds. Milled rice seeds consist almost purely of starch and proteins, and therefore constitute a cheap and safe packaging for proteins that do not require purification. In a typical contract service, CropDesign commits to make construct vectors for high level protein expression in rice seeds, to transform rice plants, and to select lines with a high expression level. These lines can be further bulked up and proteins can be produced on pilot or production scale in very short timelines.
