CropDesign has developed over the years several patented technologies for automated handling of plants as well as for phenotyping plant organs (leaves, stems, flowers, roots, seeds).

Through developing these systems, CropDesign engineers have acquired solid experience in designing and implementing unique solutions in plant handling and phenotyping automation. Some of these technologies are made available commercially on request.

One example is SeedTower™, an instrument for automated cleaning, weighing and counting small seed-batches, such as batches harvested from individual plants. The SeedTower™ consists of a wind separator unit which can be tuned to separate filled seeds from husks and debris. Raw samples are counted before separation and clean seeds are counted and weighed in one simple action. Total seed weight, 1000 seed weight, number of filled and non-filled seeds are automatically calculated and recorded.
