A custom-built integrated laboratory management information system (i-LIMS) keeps track of all handlings performed at CropDesign.

The i-LIMS interfaces through wireless or optic fibre connections with the different robots, digital cameras, analysis instruments and pocket/desktop PCs in the company. The i-LIMS is therefore at the same time a tracking system and a data depository.

Digital images and statistically processed data derived from them are stored on a multi-terabyte storage area network. These data can be retrieved via intuitive query and visualization software.
