| CropDesign's technology platform closes the application gap between classical
genomics and the development of improved or novel crop traits. Gene leads from
genomics are often based on in silico predictions without any concrete proof whether
they will actually make a phenotypic difference to a crop. The TraitMill is designed
to determine the real effects on real crops of changes in expression patterns
of either single genes, or selected gene combinations.
Operating the TraitMill, CropDesign has identified a whole range of promoter-gene configurations that cause either higher seed yield, larger seed size, increased biomass, enhanced tolerance to abiotic stress, or better nitrogen use efficiency. CropDesign is using these proprietary gene constructs to develop crops with improved agronomic properties. |
